Toothpaste works well for cleaning tarnished Silver. Coat the silver with toothpaste and then work it into a foam using gentle pressure. Don’t be too heavy-handed, or you may damage the siver! Rinse well with cold water and buff

Balsamic vinegar, red and white wine vinegar

Image via Wikipedia

To remove limescale from electric kettles, fill to the minimum level with White Vinegar, add the same amount of cold water, and boil.  It’s a good idea to ventilate the room though because that Vinegar is pretty strong!  Let the water cool in the kettle, and pour out.  You’ll have to boil a couple of kettles afterwards with water to remove any odour – but this works really well, and is much cheaper than many of the commercial products

OK, so this isn’t strictly speaking a cleaning tip.  The best way to keep Spiders from making their home inside yours is to place Conkers (Horse Chestnut) at the corner of each room.  It really works! Alternatively you can buy “Conker Spray” from people such as Kleeneze which also works, but is more expensive.

Organic Heinz Tomato Ketchup 2

To clean “well-used” pans, rub Tomato Ketchup into the stains with a damp cloth, leave to work for half an hour, and then rinse with warm water.  Makes you think twice about eating the stuff!  Oh well, burgers just don’t taste the same without it!

To remove burnt on food from Pyrex dishes, soak them in Denture cleaner and hot water.  Alternatively, use an Effervescent Vitamin C tablet, which works equally as well.

Red Wine – The most common stain in our house!  Don’t bother with the pouring White Wine thing.  It doesn’t always work, and it means opening another bottle!  Simply pour salt over the stain and leave.  Put loads on – way more than you think.  After about an hour, brush away with a dustpan and brush.

To remove marks from wooden furniture cut a walnut in two and rub its raw edge along the grain of the wood.

This is harder than I thought!

OK, so in my last post, I told you I was updating the website.  Mmm, that didn’t go exactly accordingly to plan really.

There’s nothing worse than a constantly “Under Construction” Website in my opinion.

So here’s what I’m going to do;

Spend 1 hour on developing the website per day for the next week.  That’s a minimum.  There’s loads of functionality I want to add, it’s just getting the time to sort it!

Oh, and get a new blog post done at least twice a week.  I’m certainly not short of words – you ask anyone!

Anyway, I’ve put it in writing now – so I really have to stick to it!

Website Updates

June 23rd, 2011 | Posted by Richard in Website - (0 Comments)

After having the same old website for over 2 years, we impulsively decided to start afresh.  After 10 minutes of trying to plan how to freshen up the old site, we bit the bullet and deleted the whole site!

So, a quick look at WordPress, a quick sketch of how we wanted the site to look, and what we wanted it to do later, and here we are.

There’s loads to finish, but we’ve got the basics sorted now.  Hope you like it!
